Nasarawa PDP Candidate, Ombugadu Heads To Supreme Court To Nullify Governor Sule’s Victory At Appeal Court
David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), vying for the governorship position in Nasarawa State, has taken his case to the Supreme Court of Nigeria in a bid to invalidate Governor Abdullahi Sule’s victory.
The notice of appeal, filed by Ombugadu’s legal team, names the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Sule Audu Alhaji, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) as respondents before the apex court.
The Court of Appeal in Abuja had earlier affirmed Abdullahi Sule’s election as governor on November 23, 2023, overturning the Nasarawa State governorship election petition tribunal’s decision that initially nullified Sule’s victory.

Governor Abdullahi Sule, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), appealed the tribunal’s decision that had initially declared David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced Sule as the winner of the governorship election, securing 347,209 votes against Ombugadu’s 283,016 votes.
However, the tribunal, in a split decision on October 2, nullified Sule’s victory and upheld Ombugadu as the rightful winner. Sule, through his counsel, Wole Olanipekun (SAN), appealed to the appellate court to overturn the tribunal’s judgment and uphold his victory.
