The APC claims that some top government officials have already been summoned by the anti-corruption agency.

During a press conference at the party secretariat in Benin, Acting State Chairman Jarret Tenebe urged the EFCC to conclude its investigation thoroughly. Tenebe alleged that the widely promoted paperless initiative by Obaseki is a scheme to erase crucial data from government servers in the event of an electoral loss for the PDP.

Tenebe stated, “The latest plan by Obaseki to make his administration’s activities paperless is a criminal strategy, devised by Ugo, the head of e-governance, in collusion with the governor, to destroy all documents related to fraudulent contracts under the guise of transitioning to a paperless system.”

The APC leader also raised concerns about the alleged ₦28 billion expenditure on a five-star hotel by the state government, which he claimed was already 85 percent complete before being taken over from its original owner.

In response, Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, dismissed the allegations, criticizing the APC and its leadership for lacking an understanding of government operations and for resorting to sensationalism.

Nehikhare commented, “It is unfortunate that we still have people leading political parties without any idea of how the government functions, resorting to making spurious and frivolous allegations. They cannot provide any policy direction for a government they aspire to form. Instead, they are chasing shadows. We urge the Edo people to ask the APC leadership about their plans for the state.”
