In a statement issued by his media adviser, Ezrel Tabiowo, on Sunday, Lawan described such reports as baseless and misleading. He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the APC, emphasizing that he remains a dedicated and active member of the ruling party.
“The attention of the Office of Senator Ahmad Lawan, the President of the 9th Senate and Distinguished Senator representing Yobe North Senatorial District, has been drawn to misleading reports and posters insinuating that he is set to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Social Democratic Party (SDP),” the statement read.
“We categorically state that these claims are entirely false and without merit. Senator Ahmad Lawan has been a steadfast and loyal member of the APC, a party he has proudly contributed to since its formation. He remains a key stakeholder and will continue working with the party and government to achieve collective goals.”
Lawan also highlighted his long-standing political consistency, noting that in his 25-year career in the National Assembly, he has never defected. He began his legislative journey in 1999 in the House of Representatives under the All People’s Party (APP), which later became the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) before merging with other parties to form the APC in 2013.
The senator further reiterated his full support for Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, commending his leadership and efforts in governance. Additionally, he expressed confidence in the policies and reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, stating that he remains committed to advancing the party’s vision for national development.
Lawan urged the public to disregard any contrary reports and reaffirmed his dedication to the APC’s mission and progress.
