Condemnation of Rivers State Emergency Declaration

Sowore described the emergency declaration as a strategic move to dismantle the state’s governance structure.

“The decision is nothing but an attempt to sacrifice an entire state structure. This is one of the most brazen instances of such political maneuvers. The ultimate goal is to ensure that Wike maintains control over one of Nigeria’s wealthiest states, Rivers,” he stated.

He further suggested that political developments in the state had been leading up to this moment since Siminalayi Fubara assumed office as governor.

“From the moment Fubara was appointed—or selected, depending on how you see it—everything has been pointing towards this outcome,” Sowore added.

Allegations Against Tinubu and Wike

According to a report by SaharaReporters, Sowore alleged that Wike sought President Tinubu’s intervention to wrest control of the state from Governor Fubara.

“At a certain point, Wike had to reach out to Tinubu, who acts as his political principal in this scenario, to intervene and seize control of the state. This was their plan, and they have now executed it,” Sowore claimed.

He warned that the involvement of Akpabio, Wike, and Tinubu in Nigerian politics poses significant risks.

“These three individuals—Wike, Akpabio, and Tinubu—must be closely monitored. They are dangerous because they have thrived on impunity and lawlessness for years without facing any consequences,” Sowore asserted.

National Assembly’s Expected Response

Sowore also predicted that the Nigerian National Assembly would endorse the state of emergency, arguing that lawmakers would not challenge Tinubu’s decision.

“This morning, I was invited to an interview on Channels TV, where I predicted that the National Assembly would approve Tinubu’s emergency declaration. They are all complicit in this scheme. Nigerians must recognize that the political class is working against them, and the people must unite to resist this,” he concluded.
