The “People first” Mantra Of The Turaki’n Ilorin.
It is a shame that Senator Oloriegbe, who prides himself as a responsible professional will allow himself to be manipulated and become a wrecking tool of the enemies of the Kwara people. Where is the honour in people who speak from both sides of the mouth, they are quickly forgotten in the annals of history. No wonder in the entire three-plus years that he spent in the Senate only a single bill can be tied to his attendance.
Let’s even x-ray his antecedents, because the one who is faithful in little will be faithful in much. As a Senator can anyone tell me how much he has empowered his constituents for the past three years? Can anyone point to how he impacted the grassroots, as the Chairman Senate committee on health, what can we point to and say this is what Senator Oloriegbe did to make life more meaningful?
Senator Oloriegbe has been missing in action when it comes to grassroots empowerment and engagement, he got lost in Abuja while Mallam Saliu Mustapha has been engaged in grassroots empowerment and engagement for over ten years. Senator Oloriegbe has no right to cast aspersions on the person of Mallam Saliu Mustapha because when his constituents needed a shoulder to lean on, Mallam Saliu Mustapha was there to not only lend a shoulder, he went further to bore their yoke. This is strong leadership.
Mallam Saliu Mustapha has come to serve the people and the earlier Senator Oloriegbe recognizes this fact the better for him. Mustapha has been serving the people for more than a decade with no political appointment or government job yet he has been doing things differently at personal cost.
This is what politics is all about, putting the people first. Be it in the areas of rural electrification, provision of borehole infrastructures, healthcare and even pocket-care. Mallam Saliu Mustapha is keen on human capital development and agricultural interventions in Ilorin, yet someone like Senator Oloriegbe who has been in government since 1999 still could not measure up.
Talk is cheap, taking the people on a rollercoaster ride is the most expensive joke any politician can make, they never forget. Senator Oloriegbe should swallow his pride and apologize to the people, then, and only then will he realize the number one rule in elective politics, never take the people for granted. While Oloriegbe is busy hurling vituperations, Mallam Saliu Mustapha is busy lending a helping hand to the people after all Senator Oloriegbe is just but one man as opposed to the greater number of constituents who deserves the attention of the Turaki’n Ilorin, hence “The people first” mantra of Mallam Saliu Mustapha.
