Tinubu Makes 13 Fresh Appointments (FULL LIST)
President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of 13 heads of medical institutions across the country. As a result, the Federal Ministry of Health has been instructed to issue official confirmation letters to these 13 appointees.
The directive was conveyed in a letter dated August 7, 2023, from the Secretary General of the Federation (SGF) to the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health.

The letter, personally signed by the SGF, Senator George Akume, specifies the individuals to be appointed and their respective terms. The appointments are to be accompanied by the necessary terms of engagement. The SGF also requested that copies of the appointment letters be forwarded to the SGF’s office for record-keeping purposes.
Among the appointments outlined in the letter are the following:
- Prof. Mangwa J. Kortar – Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Markudi, Benue State (4-year term).
- Prof. Robinson Chukwudi Onoh – Chief Medical Director, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakiliki, Ebonyi State.
- Dr. Nurudeen lsa – Medical Director, National Orthopaedic Hospital, Dala, Kano State.
- Prof. Nyandanti Wilberforce – Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Hong, Adamawa State.
- Prof. Issa Baba Awoye – Medical Director, Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Buddo-Egba, Kwara State.
- Umar Faruk Abdulmajid – Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Daura, Katsina State.
- Dr. Muhammad Shittu Adamu – Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Mubi, Adamawa State (initial term).
- Prof. Shua’aibu Jauro Yahya – Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Wase, Plateau (initial term).
- Dr. Mercy Arugwu – Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Onitsha, Anambra (initial term).
- Prof. Auwalu Sani Salihu – Medical Director, Federal Neuropsychiatric Dawanau, Kano State.
- Prof. Chubado Tahir – Medical Director, National Orthopaedic Hospital, Jalingo, Taraba State.
- Dr. Philip Ibukun Ugbodaga – Medical Director, National Orthopaedic Hospital, Edo State.
- Dr. Bello A. Mohammed – Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Gusau, Zamfara (final term of four years).
It has been reported that the Federal Ministry of Health has started issuing the appointment letters in compliance with the directive, and the process is expected to continue in the coming week, aligning with the intended effective date of August 1, 2023, for the confirmation of these appointments.
