Why I Attend Church Events – Peter Obi
According to Peter Obi, his regular attendance at church functions is not a political strategy. The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate stated that it is because Nigeria requires prayers.
Opposition parties have accused him of attending religious gatherings for political gain, but the former Anambra State governor has denied the allegations.
On Tuesday, he spoke in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, when he paid a visit to His Eminence Dr Sunday Mbang, former prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria and former president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
Obi argued that Nigeria requires not only an agile, healthy, and visionary leader, but also prayers.
He urged religious leaders to speak truth to power, citing the kidnapping of priests in the North Central and North West regions as evidence of the church’s involvement in the country’s problems.
