Why Saliu Mustapha’s Candidacy May Be The Best Shot For APC- Nigerians Make Shocking Revelation(Opinion poll)
As the All Progressive Congress, APC is aggressively set to conduct its national congress that would usher new leaders to steer the affairs of the party a new poll conducted by Electoral Observers finds that majority of Nigerians want Mallam Saliu Mustapha the Turaki of Ilorin to emerge as the next national chairman of the biggest political party in Africa.
They are of the opinion that Mallam Saliu Mustapha’s choice as the next national chairman of the ruling party will help restructure Nigeria.
The poll was conducted from December 6th 2021 to January 10th 2022 among 7000 Nigerians cut across the six geo-political zones, the poll found that about 70 % believe Mustapha should lead the party versus 30 % who believe other candidates should lead.
According to statistics, the majority feels the APC would have an advantage with Saliu Mustapha as the national chairman of the APC.
Support for Mustapha is highest among youths who believe his candidacy would set new dawn for the country( 80% feels he should lead the party), women (70%), party adherents(75 %) moderates(60%) other political party members ( 60%) and finally working-class Nigerians(70%).
APC disciples increasingly think that Mallam Saliu Mustapha has the best chance of leading the party to a successful 2023 general election, although party members have reservations about the way and manner the congress would be conducted, the Tuiraki of Ilorin appears to be gaining acceptance as the possible next national chairman of the party.
What are the key issues making Saliu Mustapha’s candidacy gain such momentum?
Mustapha has been hitting on party discipline, creativity and doing things differently within the party system.
His core values on party loyalty, innovation, openness, integrity, respect, teamwork, excellence and dedication has set him miles apart from other contenders.
Clean Slate With No Baggage.
According to Nigerians Mustapha is a gentleman who has carried himself with dignity all the years, they see him as one who remains focussed and committed to courses he signed up for.
“It is not easy for one to see an astute politician that has no luggage hovering over his personality, Saliu Mustapha has handled all the responsibilities shouldered on him with dignity with no single stain to his name. His carriage is excellent and those are the kind of leaders Nigerians crave for.” Isa Habib, Katsina.
Nigerians see Mustapha as an honest man who would hit the ground running if given the opportunity.
Saliu Mustapha who happened to be a former deputy national chairman of the CPC is coming on board with a 100 % clean slate which makes him the top favourite amongst Nigerians and party faithful.
The poll also looked at the 2023 general elections which found that 60% of registered voters are likely to vote for APC if Mallam Mustapha emerges as the National Chairman of APC.
APC party members enthusiasm for Saliu Mustapha running as National Chairman extends to Nigerians overall with 70% of respondents believing his potential chairmanship would be “the best shot for the APC and Nigerians at large”.
