In a recent series of social media posts, Alade criticized the government’s approach to demolitions, emphasizing the adverse impact on residents who are suddenly rendered homeless. She highlighted the negative effect on the real estate value of Lagos and its potential to deter investors.
Alade called on the government to consider refunding affected legal buyers the money they paid to acquire their land, suggesting that this would be a step towards addressing the grievances of those affected.
Furthermore, she questioned the approval process for building plans, particularly in cases like Mende Villa 1, where demolitions have occurred. Alade urged the government to communicate directly with residents and provide adequate notice before carrying out such actions, emphasizing the trauma inflicted on unsuspecting citizens.
Her comments reflect growing concerns about the implications of government policies on housing and urban development in Lagos, underscoring the need for a more transparent and inclusive approach to governance.
