The action comes in response to more than 50 abusive videos identified and reported by the platform OpenDemocracy, which were found to amplify abuse against individuals accusing Joshua.

The controversy gained momentum after a three-part documentary by the BBC World Service, in collaboration with OpenDemocracy, featured whistleblowers who made on-the-record allegations of sexual and psychological torture, financial fraud, and criminal negligence by the late Prophet TB Joshua.

The videos, originally filmed by the church’s Emmanuel TV media department, showcased the experiences of women who participated in the investigative documentary.

YouTube, with explicit policies against cyberbullying, harassment, and hate speech, stated, “The flagged channel was terminated for violating our hate speech policies.” This marks the second time in three instances that the YouTube channel of the late Prophet TB Joshua’s church has been suspended due to breaches of the platform’s policies.

As the digital landscape becomes a battleground for accountability, the removal of Emmanuel TV raises questions about the responsibility of online platforms in addressing alleged abuses and the challenges of balancing freedom of expression with the need to protect against harm.
