Yul had previously forecasted a victory for the Nigeria Super Eagles over Ivory Coast in the championship match.

In a post shared on his Instagram page ahead of the game, he confidently stated, “Today’s game will not get a penalty shootout. Nigeria will comfortably defeat Ivory Coast.”

However, the Super Eagles ultimately succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Ivory Coast.

Following the disappointing loss, Nigerians took to social media to express their disillusionment and criticize Yul’s prophecy as being false.

Responding to the wave of criticism, Yul took to his page and expressed, “It is well. Thank you Super Eagles. Reaching the finals is as significant as winning. We are proud of all of you. Remarkable performance throughout the tournament.”

“Regardless of the outcome, whether good or bad, we stand united. I hold Nigeria dear to my heart. Brighter days are ahead. The Giant of Africa,” he affirmed.
