questioned why decisive measures had not been taken despite the availability of resources to combat the menace.

He emphasized that if security forces collaborated, bandits could be swiftly driven out of the area. Abdullahi referenced a statement by former Head of State, General Sani Abacha, who once said, “if a crisis persists for more than 24 hours, the government is complicit.”

The security analyst accused some powerful individuals in Nigeria of being involved in banditry, noting that the ongoing insecurity points to underlying political interests. Abdullahi warned that many influential figures are directly linked to criminal activities in the region, adding that Nigerians should not be fooled by appearances.

He also criticized the country’s justice system for its selective application, claiming that politicians and elites often escape justice, while ordinary citizens face severe penalties. Abdullahi expressed frustration at how ordinary Nigerians continue to suffer from poverty and insecurity while political elites enjoy the nation’s resources.

Further criticizing Nigeria’s democracy, he stated that the country is still a “country” and not yet a “nation,” pointing to widespread corruption and the looting of public funds since the 1990s as evidence of systemic issues that hinder the nation’s progress.
