Arewa And Yoruba Groups Slam Probe Against Yahaya Bello Investigation
The Northern Emancipation Network (NEN) and the Yoruba Youth Council have raised their voices against purported moves to probe former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, denouncing what they perceive as unjust harassment and intimidation….READ MORE EFCC’s Legal Storm: Ex-Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello Accused In N80bn Fraud Case
NEN’s Chairman, Suleiman Abbah, expressed dismay over the alleged investigation, emphasizing that the accusations against Bello stem from events predating his tenure, rendering them illogical and unfounded.
Similarly, the Yoruba Youth Council, through its National President Comrade Eric Oluwole, urged authorities to focus on Bello’s achievements rather than targeting him needlessly, citing notable accomplishments like the establishment of a new university in Okun Kingdom.
Both groups cautioned against political interference in Kogi State affairs, stressing the need for impartial investigations devoid of undue influence. They called upon President Tinubu to ensure the autonomy and integrity of the anti-graft agency, urging a return to the agency’s fundamental mission of combating corruption with fairness and transparency.
Meanwhile, in a parallel development, the Kogi State Government has announced the appointment of a new Ohinoyi and the replacement of three monarchs, signaling a restructuring within the traditional leadership hierarchy.
