The lawyer, who shared his experience anonymously, expressed his shock and disbelief at the hefty financial demand made by the groom-to-be, especially considering the nature of their relationship.

The saga began when the groom initiated a WhatsApp group for his wedding, prompting initial excitement among invitees, including the lawyer. However, the mood quickly soured when the groom outlined the financial expectations for group members.

Recalling the moment, the lawyer stated, “After the preliminaries about asoebi and all, he went on to say those of us on the group will be the aso ebi/groom’s men and we will contribute at least ₦200,000 each for the wedding.”

The lawyer expressed his disbelief at the strict payment deadline, which required all contributions to be made by the end of May for a wedding scheduled in June.
