Despite the escape of other members of the gang, law enforcement officials managed to recover an AK-47 rifle and ammunition from the scene.
The swift response to intelligence reports led to the mobilization of police operatives, vigilante groups, and hunters to the hideout in Okuno, Orogun, where the suspected kidnappers were believed to be harboring kidnapped victims. In the ensuing confrontation, the victims were successfully rescued unharmed and reunited with their families.
Additionally, the statement highlighted the arrest of a motorcycle rider, Orji Timothy, who was found in possession of illicit drugs, weapons, and ammunition along Ovirigor Road in Ughelli. Further investigations led to the recovery of additional contraband from the suspect’s residence.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the Ovwian-Aladja Division apprehended a suspected armed robber, Anthony Odumegwu, who was intercepted while attempting to steal a motorcycle. Upon his arrest, law enforcement officers recovered an English Beretta pistol from the suspect.
CP Abaniwonda Olufemi commended the prompt action of the police officers and emphasized the commitment of the command to combatting criminal activities in the state. He urged the public to continue providing vital information to law enforcement authorities to ensure the safety and security of the community.
