Justice On Hold! JUSUN Issues 7-Day Deadline, Vows To Paralyze Court Activities Nationwide
The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has given the Federal Government a seven-day deadline to implement the new national minimum wage and additional benefits for judicial workers, warning of an indefinite strike if their demands are not met…….READ MORE
According to Naija News, the ultimatum was announced in a communiqué following an emergency meeting at JUSUN’s Abuja secretariat on Wednesday.
The countdown begins on Thursday, February 13, 2025, and expires on February 19, 2025. Should the government fail to comply, JUSUN has vowed to commence a nationwide strike on February 20, 2025.
The union insists on the full implementation of the new ₦77,000 minimum wage and other entitlements for judiciary workers, stressing that other public sector employees have already begun receiving the revised salary.
JUSUN had previously issued a 21-day ultimatum, which expired without any government action.
The communiqué emphasized the union’s frustration:
“Following extensive deliberations, it was resolved that an additional seven-day notice is hereby given for the full implementation of the subject matter. The failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe means industrial harmony cannot be guaranteed. Consequently, an indefinite strike will begin on Thursday, February 20, 2025.”
JUSUN urged the Federal Government to act swiftly to prevent a complete shutdown of judicial activities across the country.
