He emphasized that just as a coalition was formed to remove former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014, there is now an even greater necessity for opposition parties and leaders to unite against Tinubu in the upcoming election. According to Ogene, Nigeria is facing significant challenges, worse than during Jonathan’s tenure, as he accused President Tinubu of compromising democratic principles in favor of centralized rule. Speaking on the role of the Labour Party, Ogene described Peter Obi as the key figure in the ongoing coalition discussions. He asserted that aside from political parties, Nigerians across different ethnic, religious, and regional backgrounds see Obi as a potential leader who can bring better governance.
