Gov Yusuf Grants Automatic Employment to 54 Graduates

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has granted automatic employment to 54 postgraduate students who recently returned from India after completing studies in health-related fields. Governor Yusuf confirmed that the graduates would be absorbed into the Kano State Civil Service to enhance the healthcare sector. He assured them that their appointment letters would be issued soon through the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Head of Service.

Encouraging the graduates to contribute their expertise to the state’s healthcare system, the governor emphasized the need for improving maternal healthcare and sickle cell treatment. He also urged beneficiaries of government scholarships to remain in the state rather than seeking opportunities elsewhere.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to human capital development, Yusuf pledged to continue the foreign scholarship program initiated by former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. He noted that out of 1,000 scholarship beneficiaries, 418 had completed their studies in India and Uganda, with 68 more expected to return from India by April.

Among the newly employed graduates, 36 are medical doctors, including two veterinary doctors, while others include 11 pharmacists, two anatomists, and one radiographer.

Kabiru Getso, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Scholarship Board, described the program as a milestone in improving healthcare services, highlighting that some of the specialized courses studied by the graduates are the first of their kind in Kano and Northern Nigeria.
