According to Ireporter Online, renowned Fuji musician Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM 1, has formally submitted his genealogical documentation to the Fusengbuwa ruling house, the lineage currently positioned to produce the next Awujale of Ijebu-Ode.

The Chairman of the Fusengbuwa ruling house, Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi, confirmed on Wednesday that the family has convened an emergency meeting scheduled for Thursday at Ile Nla to deliberate on Ayinde’s interest in the revered throne.

The Awujale stool has remained vacant since July following the passing of Oba Sikiru Adetona at the age of 91. Owoyemi explained that the royal lineage form, which requires contenders to trace their ancestry across seven generations, serves as a safeguard to ensure that only authentic members of the ruling house participate in the succession process. Once a contender’s lineage is confirmed, they may proceed to obtain the expression-of-interest form.

Although the deadline for collecting the forms elapsed on Friday, December 5, the family granted Ayinde an exceptional five-day extension, which expired on Wednesday, December 10. Owoyemi noted that the singer submitted the form through a representative and that the family’s meeting will address issues surrounding his nomination.

Ayinde, who holds the respected title of Olori Omooba of Ijebu land, is traditionally linked to the Fidipote ruling house. His decision to pursue the throne through the Jadiara arm of the Fusengbuwa lineage has sparked significant public surprise. His submitted documents reportedly trace his heritage to the Setejoye family unit of the Jadiara ruling house through his father, Adisa Adesanya Anifowoshe.

However, two prominent family heads have openly challenged his claims, posing serious obstacles to his bid. The Chairman of the Jadiara ruling house, Otunba Akinola Odedina, asserted in a letter circulating online that Ayinde has no verified genealogical connection to Jadiara. He stated that despite being offered the nomination form with the expectation of proof, Ayinde has yet to present any documentation to validate his lineage.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Bubiade royal family, Alhaji O. B. Yusuf, insisted that neither Ayinde nor his father has any ancestral ties to their lineage.
