BREAKING: Govt Declares Fresh Public Holiday (SEE DATE)
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has announced Wednesday as a Public Holiday in honor of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This proclamation was made through a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Baba Halilu Dantiye.
The statement reads, “Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has declared tomorrow Wednesday, October 4, 2023 as Public Holiday in commemoration of the birth of the noble prophet of Allah, Muhammad Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.”
Dantiye emphasized that the Governor encouraged the state’s populace to utilize this occasion “to contemplate the teachings of our noble Prophet and incorporate them into their daily lives.”
He also urged everyone to fervently pray for peace and prosperity to prevail in Kano State and Nigeria as a whole.
“In addition, he prayed to Allah to guide us through this challenging period and bless us with abundant harvests in both the rainy and upcoming dry farming seasons,” the commissioner added.
Reports indicate that the State is already filled with celebrations in honor of the birth of the Prophet (PBUH), featuring readings from the Holy Qur’an and the sayings of the Prophet (Hadith), among other activities.
These celebrations, known as TAKUTAHA, also involve donning new attire (especially by children), as well as the sacrifice of chickens for the preparation of delightful meals that are shared among fellow Muslim faithful, friends, and neighbors.
