Breaking News: COAS Urges Zamfara-Residents To Support-Military With Vital-Information On Bandits’ Hideouts
In a bid to enhance civil-military cooperation in Zamfara State, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General TY Lagbaja has called on residents to provide crucial information on the hideouts of bandits to enable prompt military response.
The COAS, represented by Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, Commanding Officer of 1 Brigade, Gusau, made this appeal during an event where the Nigerian Army’s 1 Brigade donated medical consumables, writing materials, and clothes to the less privileged.
Colonel Joseph Umaru, representing the Commanding Officer of 1 Brigade, stated during the formal launch of the distribution at 1 Brigade, Gusau, that the program aims to assist students and less privileged individuals in the host communities with educational and livelihood support.
“These donations are part of the Nigerian Army Day celebration in the state and include quick impact projects aimed at fostering civil-military cooperation,” Umaru explained. “The items provided include writing materials for selected primary and secondary school students, and clothes and footwear for the less privileged in the host communities, aimed at strengthening the cordial relationship with the Army to facilitate their operations in these states.”
Umaru highlighted the selection of Zamfara and Kebbi States for these donations due to the current insecurity challenges. He emphasized the importance of community support in combating insurgency and other forms of criminality.
“I urge the good people of Kebbi and Zamfara States to continue supporting the military by providing credible and timely information about criminal hideouts and any suspicious activities in their respective areas for swift response,” he added.
The COAS’s appeal underscores the critical role of community cooperation in enhancing security efforts and ensuring effective military operations against banditry and insurgency in the region.
