BREAKING: Tinubu In Big Trouble As Supreme Court Says There Are Conflicting Letters From Chicago State University On His Certificate (DETAILS)

The Supreme Court has revealed the existence of conflicting letters from Chicago State University (CSU) regarding President Bola Tinubu’s certificate.

Justice John Okoro, heading the 7-member panel overseeing Atiku Abubakar’s application against President Bola Tinubu, stated this on Monday.

While the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared President Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the February election, his opponents took the matter to court.

Following the dismissal of Atiku and Peter Obi’s appeals by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, they turned to the apex court. Atiku sought to present additional evidence against Tinubu, alleging document forgery.

Atiku had requested Tinubu’s academic records from Chicago State University to substantiate his claim that the president submitted fake documents to INEC.

However, by the time the documents were released, the 180-day statutory period for filing and determining an election petition had passed.

Still, Atiku urged the court to allow his appeal to present new evidence due to the gravity of the issue. Tinubu opposed this, arguing that granting such a request would constitute an abuse of the court process.

Atiku based his plea on the belief that the submission of forged documents by any candidate, particularly one vying for the highest office in the country, is a serious constitutional matter that must not be condoned.

However, Tinubu countered, asserting that the matter falls under pre-election issues, among other points, and subsequently asked the court to reject the application.

In challenging Tinubu, Atiku argued that matters of merit should not be determined or pronounced upon at the interlocutory stage.

Atiku also emphasized that presenting a forged certificate permanently disqualifies a candidate, regardless of when it was presented.

During Monday’s hearing, Justice Okoro stressed that criminal matters must be proven beyond reasonable doubt.

“But in this case, there are two conflicting letters from the CSU – one authenticating the president’s certificate and another discrediting it. Which do we rely on?,” he asked.
