BREAKING: Supreme Court Dismisses Appeal Against Tinubu’s Election (DETAILS)

Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has rejected the appeal filed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) contesting the nomination of Kashim Shettima as the Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the recent presidential election.

A seven-member panel, led by Justice John Okoro, announced the dismissal of the appeal after the appellant’s lawyer, Chukwuma Majukwu Umeh, requested to withdraw it.

Upon mention of the appeal, panel members noted its frivolity, emphasizing that the Supreme Court had previously settled the matter in the case of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) v. INEC and others, affirming that Shettima was appropriately nominated.

Justice Okoro directly asked Umeh what he believed his client would gain from the outcome of the case, other than burdening the court further.

Umeh initially attempted to differentiate his client’s case from that of the PDP v. INEC and others, but eventually changed his stance when Justice Okoro insisted that the appeal held no practical value.
