Canadian Woman Arrested At Lagos Airport For Drug Trafficking After $10,000 Promise

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the suspect claimed she had been recruited online and promised $10,000 for successfully delivering the drugs in Lagos. Munju explained that she accepted the offer to fund her master’s degree studies in Canada.

In related operations, NDLEA officers at the Onne Ports in Rivers State seized a massive shipment of opioids worth over N9 billion, including Tramadol and codeine-based syrups. The drugs were recovered from containers originating from India. Additionally, operatives at Tincan Seaport in Lagos intercepted another 100 parcels of Canadian Loud weighing 50kg, hidden within a container carrying imported vehicles. One suspect, Abubakar Shuaibu Ibrahim, has been arrested in connection with this case.

Further drug busts occurred in Taraba and Lagos, with significant seizures of opioids, cannabis, and other illicit substances, leading to multiple arrests. The NDLEA Chief, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the agency’s officers for their vigilance and success in these operations
