Taking to his Instagram page, AY urged fans of the Super Eagles to refrain from engaging in cyberbullying towards Iwobi, emphasizing that his sole offense was representing his homeland.

Following Nigeria’s 2-1 defeat to Ivory Coast in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final on Sunday, Iwobi, among other players, faced severe criticism, prompting him to delete all pictures from his official Instagram page.

Expressing his concerns, the comedian urged Nigerians to look beyond personal interests and consider the detrimental effects of their actions.

“Anyone can fall victim to cyberbullying. Hurtful content posted online can spread rapidly and is often challenging to completely erase. The speed at which it spreads makes it difficult for victims to defend themselves or take preventive measures. Unfortunately, the harm caused by cyberbullying is often overlooked by users of computers or mobile phones.

“It is disheartening to witness the various forms of cyberbullying directed at a young man whose only fault was to represent his homeland. Tomorrow, many will still wonder why players like Saka and others are hesitant to play for Nigeria.

“It’s time to transcend personal agendas and recognize the adverse impacts of our actions. Let us strive to promote a culture of compassion and respect on the internet and put an end to cyberbullying,” he implored.
