Delta State Police Arrest 17-Year-Old Boy For Faking Kidnapping, Demanding N1 Million Ransom

The Delta State Police Command has apprehended a group of 12 suspects, including a 17-year-old boy, for orchestrating a fake kidnapping in the Agbor area of the state. The incident unfolded when the teenager sent a voice note to his sister, claiming he had been kidnapped and demanding a ransom of N1 million. Acting swiftly, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Agbor Division launched an investigation and arrested three suspects. However, by the time they were apprehended, they had already collected N700,000 and spent it.

Olufemi stated, “Investigation revealed that the 17-year-old connived with his friends and faked his kidnapping. Before they were arrested, they had already collected a ransom of N700,000 and had squandered the money.”

The Commissioner also expressed concern about the prevalence of hard drugs in the streets and announced that the police command is collaborating with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to combat the menace effectively
