Doguwa’s Bold Promise: Reclaiming Kano for APC in 2027
Rep. Ado Doguwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has vowed to reclaim Kano State for his party in the 2027 elections. Doguwa, a prominent APC figure from Kano, is positioning himself as a key player in the party’s future strategies. He expressed his commitment to securing both the presidential and governorship seats for the APC if appointed as the Director-General of the 2027 APC Campaign Project in the state.
Doguwa’s pledge highlights a determined effort to fortify the APC’s presence in Kano, a region crucial for the party’s national ambitions. His promise underscores the strategic importance of the upcoming elections and his role in driving the party’s success.
North Urged to Show Gratitude for Tinubu’s Support
Alhaji Musa Saidu, an influential Arewa leader, has called on the northern region to reciprocate the significant support President Bola Tinubu extended to former President Muhammadu Buhari. Saidu emphasized that Tinubu’s support was instrumental in Buhari’s presidential victory, particularly in the South West.
Saidu’s appeal comes at a time when there is growing anticipation for the north to demonstrate solidarity with Tinubu, reflecting the deep-rooted alliances formed during Buhari’s presidency. This call for reciprocal support highlights the ongoing political dynamics and alliances within Nigerian politics.
Anyaoku-led Group Pushes for Constitutional Reforms
The Patriots, a group of national leaders led by Chief Emeka Anyaoku, have urged President Bola Tinubu to revisit Nigeria’s constitution. This appeal follows their recent meeting with the president, where they discussed the increasing challenges of terrorism, banditry, and other security issues.
Olawale Okunniyi, the General Secretary of The Patriots, argued that these issues stem from long-standing political distrust and lack of national cohesion. The group recommended a national dialogue to revise the constitution, incorporating insights from previous constitutional conferences and historical documents.
APC Integrity Group Challenges Oshiomhole’s Remarks
The APC Integrity Group has responded sharply to comments made by Senator Adams Oshiomhole regarding Asue Ighodalo, the PDP governorship candidate for the Edo State election. Oshiomhole had criticized Ighodalo, questioning his electability and suggesting that he was unsettled by superstitions during a visit to his village.
The APC Integrity Group’s response reflects internal party tensions and differing views on campaign strategies and candidate suitability. This exchange underscores the competitive and often contentious nature of Nigerian politics as the election approaches.
