EFCC Presents Further Evidence Against P&ID Director In $9.6 Billion Scam Case At Abuja High Court

The criminal case is linked to the controversial Gas Supply Processing Agreement between Process and Industrial Development and the Federal Government of Nigeria, which previously resulted in an $11 billion award against the Nigerian government. However, a London arbitration court overturned this award in October, citing fraudulent acquisition of the contract.

MICAD Project City Services Limited and James Nolan currently face 20 charges related to obtaining money by false pretense, money laundering, and criminal conversion of proceeds of crime, amounting to N151,394,328.00.

In February, Nolan was arrested in Italy by the International Criminal Police Organisation after fleeing Nigeria in 2022 while on bail amidst the ongoing $9.6 billion P&ID scandal.

During Monday’s court session, the prosecution counsel, Bala Sanga, informed the court that the EFCC submitted additional evidence on February 20, 2024. The defense counsel, Michael Ajara, confirmed receipt of the evidence.

Additionally, the third prosecution witness, lawyer Nnedimma Eyisi, testified about James Nolan’s request to renew his position as the Director of MICAD.
