Eno Emerges As National Delegate At Akwa-Ibom PDP LGA Congresses
The Nsit Ubium chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has elected State Governor Pastor Umo Eno as a National Delegate. The chapter also elected 18 new executives, including representation for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), across the 31 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Akwa Ibom State. The newly elected officials will serve a four-year term.
In preparation for the upcoming National Convention, the party also elected one National Delegate from each LGA, resulting in a total of 31 National Delegates.
Mr Borono Bassey, the Publicity Secretary of PDP in Akwa Ibom, released a statement to journalists in Uyo on Sunday outlining the results of the LGA Congress. According to the statement, each LGA elected 18 chapter officers, including one National Delegate and one representative for Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs). This brings the total number of PLWD representatives within the party executive at the grassroots level to 31 across the state.
“Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, was among eminent members of the party elected as National Delegates at the Local Government Congress held at the PDP chapter headquarters in Nsit Ubium council area,” the statement read.
Governor Eno conveyed a goodwill message to all LGAs through party elders and stakeholders. He praised party leaders for their unity and commitment to victory, traits he considers characteristic of the PDP in Akwa Ibom. Governor Eno urged the newly elected officers to work diligently to ensure the party’s continued electoral success in the state.
Hon. Aniekan Akpan, the state chairman of the PDP, addressed stakeholders and returning officers before they departed for the various LGAs to conduct the elective congress. He emphasized the importance of electing dedicated officers who will attract more members and supporters to the PDP.
“In this state, our party, the PDP, is privileged to be the most loved and preferred political party for the people of Akwa Ibom,” Akpan stated. “Therefore, those elected must be individuals who embody an altruistic spirit, encouraging millions to continue admiring and choosing the PDP during elections.”
He confirmed that the party congresses were conducted peacefully across all LGAs in the state.
Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, congratulated the newly elected LGA executives, attributing the success of the exercise to the PDP’s transparency and internal democracy. He confirmed that new officers emerged in all LGAs across the state.
