FG Presents Letters Of Credence To Ambassadors To UK, France, And UN
The Federal Government has formally presented Letters of Credence to three newly appointed ambassadors, officially authorizing them to represent Nigeria in their respective postings abroad. According to Ireporter Online, the presentation was conducted by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The ceremony confirmed Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu’s appointment to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Ayodele Oke’s posting to France, and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim’s designation as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York. During the event, the minister emphasized that the letters serve as formal approval from the Nigerian government, granting the envoys the authority to act in an official capacity in their host countries.
She explained that such documents are traditionally issued by a country’s leader to introduce newly appointed ambassadors and empower them to speak and act on behalf of their nation. The minister also congratulated the three envoys, wishing them success as they prepare to take up their duties.
The development follows President Tinubu’s approval of 65 ambassadors and high commissioners, a list that included both career and non-career diplomats, which had been confirmed by the Senate in December 2025. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has since initiated orientation programs for the envoys, who are expected to assume their roles in their respective countries once they receive final approval from the host governments.
