Fireball Explosion: Fuel Tanker Blasts At Jigawa Filling Station, Local Area In Flames
A fuel tanker explosion at a filling station in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State, caused significant chaos on Thursday evening around 8 pm. The explosion occurred at the Shakkotu filling station on Kiyawa Road, as the tanker was offloading fuel. reported a loud blast, followed by intense fire engulfing the filling station, prompting people to flee in panic.
One witness, Baba Nura, recalled, “I was nearby when I heard a loud explosion. I rushed to the scene and saw the tanker had burst, and fire was spreading throughout the station.”
The fire caused considerable damage to the station and nearby properties. The Jigawa State Police confirmed the incident, stating that they had cordoned off the area and dispatched fire services. While no fatalities have been reported yet, authorities continue to monitor the situation and will provide more details soon.
Efforts to contact the manager of the filling station for comment were unsuccessful, with staff citing orders not to speak about the incident.
The situation remains under investigation as authorities work to ascertain the full extent of the damage.
