Addressing the issue of godfatherism in Nigerian politics in an interview with The PUNCH, Madubuike expressed the difficulty of controlling someone knowledgeable about wielding power.

He stated, “I have extensively written about godfatherism in politics. Our political godfathers are always active. Moreover, it is impractical and fanciful to believe that you can exercise control over someone in power who understands the intricacies.

If the godfather persists in interference, compensate him and proceed with governance, as that is your responsibility as the governor.

The situation in Rivers state reflects political avarice—wanting to have and consume the cake simultaneously. Life does not exactly work that way. I hope people will also grasp that power ultimately belongs to God.”
