At the Nigeria-Benin Republic border, Pelumi was formally welcomed by the Lagos State Government’s Commissioner of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka, alongside the Special Adviser for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe.

Naija News reveals that Pelumi embarked on her extraordinary journey from London to Lagos on January 31, 2024, overcoming numerous challenges along the way. These included a 24-hour delay at the Liberia border, being denied entry into Sierra Leone, and surviving a serious accident in Liberia just one day after her arrival.

Starting her adventure in England, Pelumi traversed through France and Spain, ventured into Morocco, crossed the vast expanse of the West Sahara Desert, and continued her journey through Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, and Benin before finally reaching her destination in Lagos.

In 2022, at the age of 27, this intrepid traveler documented her exploits in 77 countries, surpassing the borders of 80 of the world’s 193 nations.

Through her journey, Pelumi aimed to showcase to the world that the concept of “impossible” is merely a word, emphasizing that with determination and perseverance, obstacles deemed insurmountable can indeed be conquered.

On Sunday, Gboyega Akosile, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, shared on X: “Lagos State Government extends a heroic welcome to @peluminubi_, a Nigeria-British citizen who completed a solo drive from London to Lagos.

“Pelumi was greeted at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border on behalf of Lagos State Government by the Honorable Commissioner of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, and the Special Adviser, Tourism, Arts and Culture, @IdrisConnecting.
