NANS Declares War In Ondo Government: 72-Hour Ultimatum To Release Detained Students
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has demanded that the Ondo State government release detained student activists within 72 hours………READ MORE
The students, including Blessing Akeju, are reportedly being held at the Olokuta Correctional Facility after allegedly being imprisoned by the office of the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Kayode Ajulo.
In a statement released by NANS President, Olushola Oladoja, the association accused Barr. Ajulo of trying to silence student voices and called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to take swift action to address the issue.
“We are committed to defending student rights,” said Oladoja, “and if our demands are not met in the next 72 hours, we will launch a nationwide protest, starting with #OccupyOndoGovernmentHouse.”
The statement also condemned Barr. Ajulo’s actions, which NANS views as a betrayal of his supposed progressive stance. The student body described the use of state power to suppress dissent as a dangerous and oppressive act that undermines civil liberties and the right to free expression.
NANS has vowed to continue its fight for justice and warned that failure to release the activists will result in widespread resistance across the country.
