Nigerians React As Estate Agent Faces Fraud-Charges In Ibadan-Court (Details)

Nigerians have expressed their concern and outrage following the arraignment of a 52-year-old estate agent, Johnbosco Dauda, before a Grade ‘A’ Customary Court in Ibadan over an alleged N430,000 fraud.

Dauda, whose address was not disclosed, stands accused of stealing and obtaining money under false pretense.

According to the Prosecutor, Mr. Philip Amusan, the defendant committed the offense on May 6 in the Sango area of Ibadan. Amusan stated that Dauda purportedly collected the money from the complainant, Ifeanyi Nnabuike, with the promise of leasing a three-bedroom flat for him. However, the prosecutor alleged that Dauda misappropriated the funds for personal gain.

These allegations have sparked reactions from Nigerians, with many expressing their disappointment and calling for justice to be served.

The prosecutor indicated that the charges against Dauda contravene Sections 419 and 399(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo, 2000.

In response to the situation, the Court President, Mrs. Sukurat Yusuf, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case until July 3 for further hearing.

As the case unfolds, Nigerians await further developments and hope that justice will prevail.
