Obaseki’s EdoBEST Exposed as a Massive Scam – APC New Media Directorate Calls for Rejection of Asue Ighodalo

Benin City, August 20, 2024 – The APC New Media Directorate, under the leadership of Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah, has exposed Governor Godwin Obaseki’s EdoBEST program as a colossal scam. Initially presented as a revolutionary initiative to transform basic education in Edo State, EdoBEST has now been revealed to be nothing more than an elaborate ruse, akin to Obaseki’s notorious doctored MOUs that promise much but deliver little.

Governor Obaseki had promoted EdoBEST as a groundbreaking e-learning initiative, claiming it would elevate the educational standards in Edo State. However, the reality on the ground paints a different picture. The APC New Media Directorate challenges Governor Obaseki to point out any new schools he has constructed across the three senatorial districts. Where are the modern facilities such as laboratories, halls, and playgrounds that were supposed to be part of this educational revolution? What significant improvements in teaching standards can be attributed to this program?

Unlike the previous administration’s “Red Roof Revolution,” which visibly upgraded schools across the state, Governor Obaseki’s EdoBEST has failed to provide tangible educational infrastructure. Instead, the program has been used as a smokescreen to mask the administration’s inability to build or renovate schools. The emphasis on e-learning appears to be more of an excuse to cover up these failures than a genuine effort to improve education.

Moreover, the APC New Media Directorate questions the existence and availability of the electronic devices purportedly provided to students under the EdoBEST program. How many households have actually seen or used these devices? What brand or manufacturer produces these tablets that are supposedly being utilized by Edo students? The lack of transparency and accountability surrounding these devices further underscores the program’s fraudulent nature.

Adding to the controversy, reports have surfaced that the state educational board has been leaking exam questions to teachers, who then pass them on to their students. This manipulation of the state’s educational rankings is a gross violation of ethical standards and an affront to the integrity of Edo’s educational system.

The APC New Media Directorate calls on all Edo citizens to reject this fraudulent scheme and, by extension, reject Asue Ighodalo, who is poised to continue Obaseki’s legacy of deception. It is time to demand genuine progress and transparency in our educational system, rather than falling victim to yet another well-crafted but hollow promise.

Signed,
Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah
