Ondo Community Celebrates Light After 15 Years of Darkness: A Landmark Achievement Under Minister Momoh
In a historic milestone, the Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh FNSE, celebrated his one year in office with a compelling address to the press, highlighting the Ministry’s outstanding achievements over the past year. Among the numerous successes, one of the most significant was the restoration of electricity to various communities in Ondo State, bringing an end to a 15-year blackout that had impacted five local government areas.
During his speech, Minister Momoh expressed his deep commitment to the Niger Delta region and detailed the comprehensive initiatives undertaken to promote sustainable development, economic empowerment, and lasting peace. The Minister’s resolve to improve the lives of the people of the Niger Delta was evident as he outlined the various infrastructure projects, human capital development programs, and environmental protection efforts that have been completed or are underway.
One of the standout achievements highlighted by the Minister was the commissioning of the Ode Erinje Power Substation in Ondo State. This project, completed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), restored electricity to five local government areas that had been without power for 15 years.
The joyous reactions from the residents of these communities were a testament to the profound impact of this achievement. Minister Momoh noted that this project is not just about providing electricity but about bringing hope, economic opportunities, and a better quality of life to the people of Ondo State.
In addition to the power project, the Minister also spoke about the numerous road constructions, environmental reclamation projects, and youth empowerment programs that have been initiated across the Niger Delta region. These projects are part of a broader strategy to foster development and ensure that the region can reach its full potential.
