Protesters In Plateau Block Roads To Conduct Sunday Service During #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria Movement
Protesters in Jos, the capital city of Plateau State, conducted a church service on Sunday to continue the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests that commenced on Thursday.
According to the Punch, the service was held at the Old Airport Roundabout, attracting a large crowd, including Christian and Muslim leaders, as well as the former Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung.
Protesters carrying Nigerian flags blocked the roundabout, forcing motorists to find alternative routes through the city.
Many of the attendees explained that the church service was crucial because they believe divine intervention could change Nigeria’s situation and benefit its struggling citizens.
One protester, Philip Madaki, who arrived at the Old Airport Junction around 7:30 a.m. for the service, explained that the demonstration, which started on Thursday, continued with a church service on Sunday to seek divine intervention in Nigeria’s governance.
He expressed hope that God would influence the nation’s leaders to recognize and address the suffering caused by poor governance and harsh economic policies.
Madaki said, “I have been participating in the protest since it began on Thursday, and today being Sunday, we are continuing with the protest with a church service.
“As the protest is ongoing, we believe that God Almighty has not abandoned the country and its citizens, and we know He has the power to turn the hearts of kings in whichever direction He wants.
“And we want Him to visit our leaders in the country, especially those in governance positions, and touch their hearts so that they will know that the citizens are really suffering because of bad governance and their harsh economic policies in the country and be able to do something to change the situation. That’s why we are adding the church service to the ongoing protests.”
