According to the officially declared results from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured the second position, with Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) coming in third.

Nevertheless, both of these candidates have raised objections to the declared results.

During his appearance on Channels Television’s “Sunday Politics,” Basiru strongly rejected the petitions against Tinubu’s election.

When questioned about the possibility of the APC preparing for a rerun election, Basiru initially noted his reluctance to comment on matters under legal consideration.

However, he proceeded to provide his assessment of the situation. Based on his knowledge of Nigerian electoral law, his examination of the petitions, and his direct involvement in the proceedings, he unequivocally stated that all the petitions challenging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s election are entirely lacking in merit.

He characterized them as “hopeless petitions, terribly hopeless,” making it clear that they do not warrant serious consideration.
