Transformative Project: Tinubu To Kick Off New Sections Of Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Next Week

President Bola Tinubu is set to inaugurate phases three and four of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project next week. These phases will start in Cross River and end in Akwa Ibom State.

This announcement was made on Sunday by Edet Ekpenyong, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Works. The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, revealed the federal government’s plans during a stakeholders’ engagement meeting at Ibom Hall in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Saturday.

According to Umahi, section three of the project covers 27 km in Akwa Ibom and 38 km in Cross River, while section four is entirely within Akwa Ibom and spans 80 km.

Umahi emphasized President Tinubu’s dedication to completing the project for the benefit of Nigerians. “We are here to introduce Sections Three and Four of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. Section One starts in Lagos and ends at the deep port in Lagos, covering 47.4 km. Section Two begins at Lekki Deep Sea Port and extends to the Dangote Refinery. The President has directed that Sections Three and Four must start in Cross River and stop in Akwa Ibom,” he said.

He added, “When you combine the 27 km in Akwa Ibom and 80 km in Cross River, you get a total of 107 km. This maximizes the benefits of the coastal highway. Once the procurement process for these sections is complete, work will commence simultaneously in multiple sub-sections.”
