Why Buhari Govt Didn’t Finish Benin-Auchi-Okene-Obajana Road Project – Agba

clem agba

Clem Agba, the former Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, has stated that the Benin-Auchi-Okene-Obajana Road remains incomplete due to insufficient funds allocated to the project.

He made this statement during a reception and dinner organized in his honor by the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Benin.

Agba explained that the national budget has faced several challenges, with budgetary provisions often spread too thinly across various projects inserted into the budget by the National Assembly.

This has resulted in insufficient funds to complete crucial projects, including the Benin-Auchi-Okene-Obajana Road, which has been ongoing for 15 years.

He further highlighted his efforts to secure funding for the road, including exploring Islamic interest-free loans (SUKUK funding) and tax credits.

Agba praised the assistance of his colleagues and government agencies in securing approvals and funding for various sections of the road, emphasizing the importance of addressing funding challenges to ensure the completion of critical infrastructure projects.
