Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has strongly condemned the recent violent attacks by suspected Fulani herders on communities in Ebonyi State. In a statement on Thursday, Obi urged security agencies to act decisively against the growing wave of violence across the country.
**“I have just received distressing news of the attacks on Amagu, Amaokwe, and Umunesha communities in Nkalaha, Ebonyi State. This savage invasion has claimed at least 15 innocent lives, with many still missing.
“This heinous act is not isolated but part of a disturbing trend of violence threatening our nation’s peace and stability. The loss of lives and destruction of property is a grave affront to our humanity.”**
Obi extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the entire Nkalaha community, emphasizing the need for swift justice.
“I urge our security forces to act swiftly and ensure the perpetrators of this barbaric act are brought to justice. The safety of every Nigerian is non-negotiable, and impunity must not be tolerated.”
The former Anambra State governor also called on communities to remain vigilant and collaborate with security agencies to combat criminal activities.
“Community leaders and citizens must unite and cooperate with law enforcement to restore peace in our land. Together, we can overcome these challenges.”
Obi concluded by praying for the victims and urging collective efforts toward a more peaceful and secure Nigeria.
