Ireporteronline understands his arrival is in anticipation of President Bola Tinubu’s expected address to a joint sitting of the Senate and House of Representatives.

However, there has been confusion from the presidency regarding Tinubu’s expected address at the joint sitting of the National Assembly.

The National Assembly had announced on Monday that it would hold a special joint session on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of continuous democracy in Nigeria. President Tinubu, State Governors, former leaders of the country, and National Assembly members were all expected to attend, according to a statement issued by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Magaji Tambawal.

This was further confirmed on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who stated that President Tinubu’s speech at the joint sitting would highlight the achievements of his administration and reflect on Nigeria’s democratic progress since the military handed over power in 1999.

Contradictorily, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, in a separate statement on Tuesday, denied reports that President Tinubu would address a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday, stating that the Office of the President was not involved in planning the event.

The conflicting statements have left the public and political observers uncertain about whether President Tinubu will make an appearance at the joint sitting.
