APC Set to Reinstate Ali Ndume as Chief Whip After Apology
Significant development within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party is preparing to reinstate Senator Ali Ndume as Chief Whip of the Senate following his recent apology. This decision comes after a closed-door meeting between Ndume and APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Dr. Ganduje revealed that Ndume had formally apologized for his critical remarks against the President Tinubu-led administration. The APC leader emphasized that the party views the apology positively and is advocating for the Senate to review its previous decision to remove Ndume from his position.
“We are quite satisfied with his apology,” Ganduje stated. “As a party, we have the right to engage with our members and resolve internal issues. This is a family matter, and we believe in addressing it constructively.”
Ganduje also mentioned that the party will formally communicate this development to the National Assembly when it resumes next month after its annual recess. He expressed hope that the Senate will reconsider its stance on Ndume’s removal.
Ndume, acknowledging his apology, explained that his criticisms were intended to address national concerns and were made out of patriotism. He admitted that his approach could have been more diplomatic and should have been channeled through the party before public expression.
“I should have addressed my concerns within the party framework,” Ndume explained. “However, my remarks were made in the interest of the country, and I regret not following the party’s procedures for such matters.”
As APC moves towards resolving this issue, the reinstatement of Ndume as Chief Whip will be closely watched by political observers and party members alike, reflecting the dynamic nature of internal party politics.
