Borussia-Dortmund Vs Real-Madrid: Confirmed Lineups, Team News, And Injury Updates For UCL-Finals
The 2023-24 UEFA Champions League culminates today with the final showdown between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund at London’s Wembley Stadium, marking the conclusion of a journey that began almost a year ago with the first qualifying matches.
Real Madrid, boasting an impressive record of 14 European titles, seeks to add a sixth trophy in just 11 years, a feat unrivaled by any other club in the competition.
On the other hand, Dortmund, with their solitary Champions League victory in 1997, enters their first final since 2013, aiming to claim the coveted title against their formidable opponents.
Thibaut Courtois assumes the role of goalkeeper for Real Madrid in tonight’s final against Borussia Dortmund. Recovering from a serious knee injury that limited him to just four appearances this season, Courtois strives to replicate his stellar performance from the 2022 final as Real Madrid endeavors to secure their 15th European title at Wembley.
While regular goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, who battled flu symptoms throughout the week, initially missed Real’s travel to London, he later joined the squad and is named among the substitutes despite his commendable performances in Courtois’ absence.
In the absence of David Alaba due to a December injury, Nacho Fernandez partners with Antonio Rudiger in central defense, with Eder Militao deemed unfit for a full return after an extended sideline.
In the midfield lineup, Eduardo Camavinga earns the nod over Luka Modric, joining Fede Valverde and the retiring Toni Kroos, while Jude Bellingham provides support behind Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo in the attacking formation.
Meanwhile, Dortmund faces concerns regarding Sebastien Haller’s fitness, given his ongoing ankle issues, while Julien Duranville and Ramy Bensebaini remain sidelined.
Edin Terzic, opting to maintain the lineup that secured victory against Paris Saint-Germain in the previous round, is expected to relegate Marco Reus to the bench in his farewell match for Borussia.
Julian Brandt and Jadon Sancho retain their positions in the attacking lineup, with Karim Adeyemi and Donyell Malen providing options for the left flank.
With loan signings Ian Maatsen from Chelsea and Sancho from Manchester United, Dortmund anticipates impactful contributions, especially with Niclas Fullkrug leading the attack.
Projected lineups:
Borussia Dortmund (4-2-3-1, right to left): Kobel (GK) — Ryerson, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Maatsen — Can, Sabitzer — Sancho, Brandt, Adeyemi — Fullkrug.
Real Madrid (4-3-1-2, right to left): Courtois (GK) — Carvajal, Rudiger, Nacho, Mendy — Camavinga, Valverde, Kroos — Bellingham — Rodrygo, Vini Jr.
