Breaking: CAF Dismisses Speculations Of AFCON-2025 Postponement (Details)
The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has debunked rumors suggesting a rescheduling of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to early 2026.
Scheduled to be hosted in Morocco, the 2025 AFCON has reportedly sparked speculations about a potential postponement due to scheduling clashes with the FIFA Club World Cup, slated to occur from June 15 to July 13, 2025, in the United States.
In response, CAF clarified that no decision has been made regarding the dates for AFCON 2025.
“Reports on AFCON 2025 are untrue. The CAF Executive Committee will meet, deliberate and make a decision on the AFCON 2025 dates. CAF will thereafter issue an official statement on the matter,” stated a release on CAF’s X platform.
The 2023 AFCON finals were delayed and held earlier this year in Cote d’Ivoire, where the Super Eagles secured the runner-up position after a 2-1 loss to the hosts in the final.
