Details of High-Level Meeting Between Tinubu And Saudi Crown Prince Revealed

In a statement released on Tuesday by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, it was revealed that the two leaders explored opportunities for cooperation in sectors such as oil and gas, agriculture, and infrastructure. They also discussed the possibility of creating a Saudi-Nigeria Business Council to strengthen economic ties.
Onanuga further highlighted that Nigeria is in negotiations with the Saudi government for a $5 billion bilateral trade facility, aimed at boosting trade relations between the two countries. He also noted the $1.24 billion investment made by the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC) in 2022, acquiring a 35.43% stake in Nigeria’s Olam Agri, with plans for further investments.
The Crown Prince praised Tinubu’s economic reforms, drawing comparisons to his own efforts to enhance Saudi Arabia’s stability and development. He assured Nigeria of his support and promised to motivate his team to implement the various partnership initiatives discussed.
Additionally, the summit reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to the Joint Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee, tasked with engaging global leaders in efforts to end the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon. The committee, led by Saudi Arabia, includes foreign ministers from Nigeria, Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and other nations, and is focused on advocating for peace in the region.
The meeting also saw the leaders condemning Israeli military actions in Gaza and reaffirming their support for the Palestinian cause, including the unification of Palestine under a sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
