“EFCC Locked Me Up For Tax Evasion, Not Fraud – Rapper Oladips Breaks Silence”
According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian rapper Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, widely known as Oladips, has revealed the real reason behind his encounter with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), stating that he was detained for failing to pay tax.
The artist, who made headlines in November 2024 when reports emerged that he had been arrested alongside several others, recounted his experience during an interview on Hip TV. Oladips explained that his ordeal began when EFCC operatives raided his estate in the early hours of the morning, conducting door-to-door searches and making random arrests.
He narrated that he initially ignored the commotion, believing he had no reason to panic since he had no involvement in internet fraud. “I was on my bed pressing my phone when I heard EFCC were in the estate. I didn’t run because I don’t do Yahoo. Those who do fraud are the ones who run,” he said.
According to the rapper, EFCC officials forcibly gained entry into his house around 3 a.m., demanded his phone and laptop, and conducted a thorough search. However, after verifying that he had no connection to any fraudulent activities, the investigation took a different turn.
“When they couldn’t find anything on me, one of their bosses asked if I pay tax,” Oladips revealed. “That was how they decided to lock me up—for not paying tax.”
The rapper’s disclosure has sparked mixed reactions among fans, with many expressing concern over what they described as the misuse of power by law enforcement agencies.
