Enugu State High Court Halts Demolition Of Properties In Ogige Market, Nsukka (Details)

Following the Enugu State government’s issuance of a 72-hour demolition notice to shop owners in the Ogige Market and Nsukka Motor Park, an ex parte order from the Enugu State High Court has been granted to restrain the state government from carrying out the demolitions.

The order, issued by Hon. Justice H.U. Ezugwu, came in response to a suit filed by Ifesinachi Transport Company Nigeria Limited and Ifeanyi Mama, representing the family of the late Igwe Ogbonna Mama.

The court’s interim injunction bars the government and its agents from interfering with the properties in question until further notice. The respondents named in the suit include the state Attorney General, Nsukka Central Town Planning Authority, and the Commissioner of the Enugu State Ministry of Transport.
