Good News As Nigerian Governor Announces Free, Compulsory Education From Nursery To JSS 3

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has introduced a policy of providing free and mandatory education from nursery to Junior Secondary School (JSS 3) in public schools across the state.

The announcement of this policy was made by Mr. Soludo at Premier Primary School in Obosi, Idemili North Council Area, on Thursday. He emphasized that his administration is deeply committed to achieving inclusive education.

Under this initiative, no child within the school age range, spanning from nursery to JSS 3, will be subjected to school fees or any other charges for obtaining an education in the state.

“The objective is to return to the foundational principles when education served as the great equalizer, allowing children from diverse economic backgrounds to attend the same school and compete on a level playing field.

Children of school-going age will now have unfettered access to quality education. Education from nursery to JSS is both free and compulsory in the state,” declared Governor Soludo.

He also emphasized that strict measures will be taken against any party failing to adhere to this directive.

Governor Soludo further outlined plans for “extensive infrastructure development” set to commence in all government-owned schools in the upcoming weeks. He noted that community schools will be elevated to “smart schools” in alignment with the vision of delivering skill-oriented and sustainable education.

The governor assured that thorough arrangements will be put in place to ensure the effective implementation of smart schools throughout the state.
